I remember a little while ago you said the Vikings should pick up Mike Vick. Now they might get Brett Favre. Who would you rather have? - Adam, Wichita, Kan.
I think it's smart of Minnesota to go after Favre. He's obviously not the Hall of Fame Brett Favre anymore, but come on, Sage Rosenfels? Tavaris Jackson? I'd rather have this guy as my QB.
Still though, if Minnesota has their choice, they should take Vick.

I posted something about this in the forum, but once you get this big, it deserves a front page post.
While I wallow helplessly near .500, my cousin has conquered the steep odds and made the Streak for the Cash leaderboard. Go to the Streak for the Cash page and check it out for yourself. There, in all his glory, is Shamrock4lyfe with 16 straight wins. Judging by the picture above, C.C. Sabathia was ecstatic when he heard the news.

I figured out a good way to pick all the NBA playoff games correctly. Come read what you say, and do the opposite. - Rhino, Gilbert, Ariz.
I'm right where I want to be. Sure, the Lakers lost the first game, and they'll have to win the next four if I want my prediction to be right. And yes, Boston has now lost home court advantage to a younger, more energized Orlando team. But I'm fine. Right? Please? Anybody?
Honestly, I'm not as worried as I probably should be.
I'm pretty confident that the Celtics will win every game that is reasonably close in the last five minutes of that series. In Game One, it took them so much energy to rally, and the C's simply ran out of time. If Ray Allen's 3-pointer went in with 35 seconds to go, Boston wins that game. No doubt about it.
Here's why I'm still encouraged: Did you notice who wanted to shoot the ball late in the game for the Magic? That's right. Nobody.

How bout that Caps-Pens game? A pair of hat tricks between the leagues two rising stars? You couldn't have asked for a better storyline... - Harold Hitz Burton, Blacksburg, Va.
I'd rather see this lame hat trick 1,000 times than sit around for two hours and watch a couple of dudes with female first names skate around on ice.
By the way, I heard Game 1 between the Capitals and the Penguins was going to get pulled from NBC and moved to Versus if the Kentucky Derby programming was ready to start. Hopefully it didn't get to that point.
Sure sounds like a thriving sport to me. Getting bumped by a horse. |

That free George Steinbrenner book has really pushed the commenting into high gear! What's that you say? It's because I called out an entire sport, and felt the Canadian wrath like never before? Well, whatever works.
rupprupp29 takes home the Comment of the Week for flushing out my master plan before it ever got going. He should change his name to Sherlock Holmes29.
rupprupp29: Unfortunately, some second rate blogs like this one need to resort to stirring the pot between hockey fans and people who blindly follow whatever is fed to them in order to get a few extra comments and page views.
Feel free to stand for what you believe, but do so with the knowledge that you're doing exactly what this a**hole wants (as I just did). Hockey fans are the most loyal fans in all of sports, and it's a shame that some people need to take advantage of this fact in order to increase their view count by a couple hundred. |

After a disastrous start, I’m here to re-do my second round picks, since three of the four second round series aren’t ones that I predicted.
And, for the record, I’m an idiot for picking against Boston in game seven. Not because of Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo or Ray Allen, but Eddie House. I’ve been his biggest fan for more than a decade, and the one time I pick against him, he makes sure I pay for it. The man is a stone cold killer. And that’s why I’m sticking with my original Orlando-Boston prediction. Because ‘Lights Out’ House cannot be stopped.
Western Conference No. 1 Los Angeles vs. No. 5 Houston: Why is everyone so in love with the Rockets here? They beat a Portland team that began wetting itself once the bright lights went on. They aren’t used to that sort of stage in Portland. If it was a series win over Dallas, Utah or San Antonio, I’d be more confident in Houston. But it wasn’t, so I’m not. Lakers in five.

What is your prediction for Game Seven of the Bulls-Celtics series? - LeQuan
Before we get to my prediction, can you imagine what the Garden would have sounded like if Kevin Garnett suited up? That's one thing I don't like about the ever-present news outlets nowadays. There aren't any surprises.
If KG kept everything under wraps, then tore off his suit on the bench and went out for the jump ball, Boston fans might have broken the sound barrier cheering. Now that it's been leaked, it doesn't seem plausible he plays, but it's something that would have been very cool to see.
As for the game itself, there are quite a few ways it could end up.

I received a question about the Bulls-Celtics series which I'll get to later, but since I've already ticked off NHL fans, I figured, why not go for the Boston faithful, too?
My beef is with Rajon Rondo. OK, not Rondo himself, but the analysts who are ready to enshrine him in Canton.
First of all, he is three generous calls away from being the goat of this series.
1) If the decapitation of Brad Miller is called a flagrant foul, the Bulls have a pretty good shot at winning that game, and Rondo is vilified.

Bush Rod, how about you keep the book, and award this for comment of the week? Just take it out of RTJ's petty cash. - Quigley, McMannis, Houston, Texas
First of all, RTJ will never be in a position to give away $75,000 gifts. I like to think of us as the NHL of the blog world. No one knows we're here, and for the select few that do, they wouldn't actually pay anything to read us.
Second of all, if I did find enough cash to get a hold of Randy Brown's championship ring, I would never, ever, ever give it away. Instead, I would bring it with me every time I went to a bar, and after drinking three or four beers with strangers, I would whip it out and tell them I was Jud Buechler.

Living out here in the DC area has fully restored my faith in how exciting playoff hockey can be. Yes, I cheered for the Caps before Ovechkin became the seemingly next "Great One". I think a lot of people are missing out on the thrill of hockey and recommend watching a series or two. Ovechkin vs. Crosby will be a great battle. – Handro, Spotsy, Va.
I can’t figure this out. There are 13 hockey fans left in the continental United States. Somehow, three of them comment and ask questions on RTJ. Frankly, it makes me sad because international readers are under the impression that Americans give a crap about the sport.
Let me clear it up: we don’t.
